Paper is a 2D or two-dimensional medium. Did you know that you can transform paper into 3D or even 4D creations through art? Paper engineering is an art form rooted in geometry, spatial reasoning, and origami, and is used most often in architecture and industrial design. Over the course of this camp, students will explore the ways paper can be used in building kinetic, structural, and mesmerizing sculptures!

Shoe Box Green Screen
Nearly everyone has constructed a shoe box diorama for a school project, but what if you could shrink down a human to shoe box scale and use the shoe box diorama as a movie set? Through the magic of green screen technology, that’s exactly what we’re going to do! Students in this class will come up with scenarios for a movie, construct the movie sets inside of shoe boxes, film themselves as live actors in front of a green screen, and use a computer to put the actors inside the movie set.

Design Your Own Sport
Every sport was invented by someone. Maybe you are destined to come up with the next great American sport. You don’t have to be great at sports to enjoy this class, just willing to think outside of the box. You will be given a random assortment of game pieces such as a hula hoop, a jump rope, and a soccer ball, and your team will have to come up with a brand new sport based on what you get. You will also get to learn some fun student-approved sports that former students have come up with including Defend the Castle and Auction Basketball. This class may not be suitable for small children younger than 3rd grade because it will involve some athletic competition with older students.
